In light of our continued leadership in International programming, across Canada and around the world, Queen Elizabeth High School was chosen as the host school for The Centre for Global Education as well as the Canadian partner for Weifang No. 1 School in China.

The Centre, based at Queen Elizabeth High School, facilitates programming that goes beyond the four wall of the classroom and opens students to up to world beyond the textbook. Every year, the Centre brings together over 4000 students and educators from every continent on earth.

There are four flagship sub-programs:

  • the Alberta Virtual Classroom

    • The AVC brings students and researchers from Alberta and across Canada together to collaborate, challenge and celebrate higher learning.

  • the Video Conference for Hope

    • This annual video conference brings together over 3000 students, from 50 schools, from all over the world to raise funds and awareness for the building of a school in a different developing country every year.

  • Four Nations Classroom

    • This program brings together schools from almost every continent on earth, from Pakistan to the Dominican Republic, and from Australia to Jordan.

All programming is centered on video conferencing technology innovatively interwoven with multiple other technologies: SMARTboards, Learning Management Systems, Web 2 tools, etc.
